Fused Glass Jewelry Workshop
Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri to learn the basics of Kiln-Formed (Fused) Glass and create your own glass jewelry to keep for yourself or give as a gift!! This fun workshop gives you a light introduction to fused glass. You will learn how it differs from other forms of art glass, what tools are used in creating a basic piece, and how to cut and grind the glass you will be using in your wearable art project. Using a colorful array of glass, you’ll construct abstract or representational designs to be fashioned into pendants, rings, cuff links, even belt buckles! Your pieces will be fired in a glass kiln to completely fuse your design into one solid piece, and will be ready for you to pick up the following week.
Note: There is a $10 (cash only) materials fee due at the workshop.
Fee: $92 general public. Reduced fees for UCSD students and faculty. A Craft Center account must be set up (it’s easy and can be done through the UCSD Account link below or by calling 858-246-4536)
Class/Material fees includes: pre-workshop instructional videos, all glass, equipment, and kiln firing of several pieces. Jewelry findings for up to 3 items (excluding leather for bracelets/belts) are also included. Additional findings, chains, cording, and leather for bracelets and belts will also be available for cash purchase.
