Kaleidoscope Trays & Holiday Ornaments

  • Fallbrook School of the Arts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri and learn how to use an array of colored glass in organic shapes to create a stunning one-of-a-kind tray.  Small, kaleidoscope-like clusters of colors in a mosaic pattern create bold, whimsical designs in fused glass.  But you are not limited to this project — you may also choose to create a set of holiday ornaments! Suzanne will guide you in glass-cutting techniques and design considerations to ensure the texture and definition around each color is maintained.  You'll have access to a large selection of colored glass and embellishments. Tray creations will go through two firings in the kiln - the first firing fuses all the glass layers and pieces into one solid piece. The second firing is to slump your fused piece into a ceramic mold of your choosing to take the form of that mold. Beginners welcome! Ages 13 and up. Note:  If you choose to do the tray, there is a $10 (cash only) slumping fee due at the workshop. If doing ornaments only, there is no additional fee.

$105 (includes all materials and pre-class video instructions - if creating a tray requiring a second kiln firing, an additional $10 cash fee is required in class)
