Bas Relief in Glass

  • Fallbrook School of the Arts 310 East Alvarado Street Fallbrook, CA, 92028 United States (map)

Explore the many possibilities of creating dimensional imagery in glass! Bas relief is found in the art and architecture of all cultures and has existed for thousands of years. It is a kind of carving or sculpture in which the figures are raised or depressed slightly from a flat background to give a three-dimensional effect. We will be using ceramic fiber material to create this “shallow space carving” of various textures and shapes — you can get as simple, complex, abstract, or realistic as you wish. All skill levels welcome!

$75 - includes all materials to create two 5” tiles or one larger tile.

Your project will be fired in the school kiln and ready to pick up mid-week. If you are not local, other arrangements can be made to get your kiln-fired project to you.
